Tusheti road can be dangerous only if the driver is drunk, the vehicle is not in good condition, the driver has no mountain road experience, or the weather is extremely bad (in that case tours are postponed). Otherwise, the road is safe, and many photos online are exaggerated or photoshopped.

Do you have experienced drivers?
Yes, all our drivers are highly experienced with Tusheti’s roads. Most of them are driving to Tusheti over 10 years and 8-10 times per season.
Do your drivers ever drink alcohol? No, our drivers never consume alcohol while on duty.
How rough is the road?
After village Pshaveli It’s mostly dirt and mountain tracks with some steep sections, suitable for off-road vehicles.
Are there group tours?

Yes, we offer group tours starting from July to September. Our group tours are placed on Wtgeorgia.com website. Group size is usually 8-15 participants. For more please visit website or email us!
Which seasons are best to visit?
Road opens every year at the end of June. Season continues until October.
How many days do you recommend?
3–5 days is perfect to explore Tusheti.
4 days ideal for short hikes, culture, traditions, horse riding.
More days if you plan longer treks and adventures.
How often do trips run?
We run group tours weekly during the season.
You can inquire private tours for you any time and any duration.

When is the sheep migration?
Sheep migration usually happens in May or end of October. As it is interesting and fun too see but it causes a lot of traffic and delay.
What happens if the weather is bad?
We may reschedule or adjust the itinerary for safety.
What if the road is blocked?
Alternative routes or postponement is arranged if necessary. Tusheti has a tractor who cleans the roads for safety.

Can I go horse riding?

Can I camp there?
Yes, camping is possible everywhere. Some guesthouses offer private camping. otherwise you can camp anywhere you like as long as it is not private property.
Is the water drinkable?
Water usually comes from natural streams and springs, and both locals and visitors drink it. If you have a sensitive stomach, bottled water is recommended.

Which hotels do you recommend?

Is food available there?

Yes, local meals are served in guesthouses; some villages have small cafes. Food is fresh and tasty! Vegetarian options are available, but Vegan is problematic! Supermarkets are not available so far.

Daytime is mild (15–25°C), sunny days can be HOT.

Traditional music, dance, cheese-making, and hospitality are common.

Yes, helicopter tours are possible in certain areas, but they are limited. They must be booked in advance and prices start from a few thousand euros.

Local guides who speak English and know the region well.

Some locals speak basic English; guides help with communication.
How much cash should I bring?
Around 100–200 GEL per person for small purchases; card payments are limited.
Most places accept cash only; a few guesthouses may take cards.
Are there dangerous dogs?

Most dogs are friendly; occasionally guard dogs may bark but rarely aggressive. Sheep dogs are dangerous if you approach them closer.
Do we need passports?
Yes, you’ll need a passport if you plan to hike to Diklo Fortress, as registration is required. Other places do not require it.
How is mobile network coverage?
Best choice: MagtiCom — strongest coverage and the most dependable service in Tusheti.
Silknet (Geocell): Acceptable in some areas, but unreliable in remote spots.
Cellfie (Beeline): Only suitable if you're staying in city centers—ineffective for mountainous regions like Tusheti.
